InstallationWhy choose Wood Floor Surbiton, to install your floor? There are three types of floor installation, a sub-standard installation, an average installation and an exceptional installation. We are only interested in exceptional installations as that?s all we know at Wood Floor Surbiton. In our opinion, DIY is usually the basic sub-standard installation from sub-floor upwards, but the intentions are good. Average installation is your typical choice, not everyone is 100% sure regarding all the relevant products that should be used and in what stage. A good attempt at installing the floor often results in problems and issues early in the floors life or later. Where price is a factor, unfortunately, the average installation is often chosen and is a false economy in the long-term. Exceptional installationThis is where Wood Floor Surbiton, prides itself. Sub-floor through to the chosen new floor, every aspect is carefully detailed and surveyed to ensure all guidelines and regulations are followed to give our customers an exceptional installation. Clear and concise communication for every customer?s installation is given throughout your order with us. Our warranty says it all: 5 Years Sub-Floor:The most important part of the installation, often overlooked. At Wood Floor Surbiton if we are selected for your full installation we are responsible not only for the wood floor but that the sub-floor complies with all recommended and acceptable tolerances. Our surveyor obtains Hydro readings, relative moisture levels, so we can be assured that our installation will be successful. This is all part of our service. Without paying proper attention to the sub-floor, a wood floor could be doomed for failure before its already started. A good solid foundation is required to ensure a successful installation. At Wood Floor Surbiton we are only able to advise on our own installations and products. We are sorry we cannot assist you in your own project but already having chosen a hard wood floor at Wood Floor Surbiton why not choose our installation service too, for peace of mind. Our customer?s responsibility?Once you?ve made your decision to install wood flooring you may wonder what the process consists of? Here is a guide, as to what to expect. Before, during and after...Before an installation begins, remove all furnishings, curtains/drape?s, paintings, media units/flat screen televisions and other items from the room(s). Where specialist firms have been used to install I.T. equipment, media systems or musical instruments please check with them first prior to moving and where necessary bring in relevant contractors to assist. Removal of furniture will be your responsibility unless agreed otherwise. For installations, the wood will need to acclimatise, which will vary from one day to two weeks for raw timber. This may vary depending upon your wood floor?s location. It is not always possible to obtain all the data required for our installations when your existing floor covering covers the sub-floor. It may be necessary to carry out additional work required that may be necessary to obtain the exceptional installation for our customers - you will be advised if this is the case for your installation. For renovation work, if your floors are being sanded, finished or refinished, be prepared for some noise and disruption. Dust containment systems can minimise debris, but no system is 100% effective, so cover any items that you want to keep dust-free. When the finish is applied, stay off your floors until it has dried. The time required will vary depending on the type of finish used. After the finish has dried or the pre-finished floor is installed, put felt pads on the bottom of any furniture to minimize scratches and dents. Place scatter rugs at all entrances, avoiding those with rubber backs, which can discolour your floor. Keep in mind that no two floorboards will be identical. Variations in appearance are completely normal. As your floor ages, some colour change can occur. This also is normal, but can be minimized by limiting exposure to direct sunlight, and periodically moving furniture and rugs. As a natural raw material timber changes a little in connection with humidity, this is natural and normal. During high humidity periods it picks up more moisture and expands its volume. During low humidity periods it reduces its moisture content and may shrink a little, so that very thin joints may appear, generally anything less than the thickness of a five pence piece is considered normal, and will correct itself as seasons change: You can exercise influence on this relationship by suitable heating, ventilation, plants, humidifiers or air conditioner. With this you will get the best possible room climate for your wood floor Keep your wood floors looking their best by properly maintaining them. Use a cleaning product recommended for your floors and use it regularly to keep them looking beautiful for years to come. |
